Lorin Stein, an editor at Farrar, Straus & Giroux, has been named as the new editor of
The Paris Review in succession to Philip Gourevitch
.
“
The Paris Review is in a unique position to guide readers through the noise to what the late Terry Southern (a frequent contributor) used to call ‘quality lit’. The idea of literature as serious fun that’s what I’m committed to, and it’s always been at the heart of this magazine,” Stein said in a press release.
Stein, who is thirty-seven, has edited high-profile authors including Denis Johnson, Mischa Berlinski, Jonathan Franzen, Jeffrey Eugenides and Lydia Davis. He will take up the post at the beginning of April.
